Front Door Revisited

I really like double iron entry doors. I think they make quite a statement.

This would be the colour of the stone, creamy-yellow.

I would like shutters and really like the look of this colour combination.

This would be the front entry door. The following picture shows certain elements highlighted in gold, I would want those in a silver-chrome metal finish on the above door.

The door would be painted in Farrow-Ball Blue Green.

The door handle would be similar to this one

Below is the inspiration picture.

Can you visualize the door? I just hope it doesn't look too far out there.

Tuesdays at the Manor

This time we go back stateside to a house in Studio City, California. This house is pretty typical of new development here. Someone, maybe a builder, buys a house that is old but has some land to it. They tear down the house and build what seems to be today's type of house.

Refrigerators and Freezers

I definitely want a panel refrigerator and freezer. I don't know if I want a single column refrigerator and a separate single column freezer. I don't know if I want a glass door on the refrigerator although sneaking suspicion that the hubby would prefer one.

Budget on this is possibly less is more. Also the debate of name brand vs. no name brand. At one end of the spectrum is 3000$ for both at a local big box store vs. close to 10000$ for both. I could do a lot with that 7000$.

Also the sizes of the single column refrigerator. What do you pick? 24 with  15.2 cu ft at 6540 , 30 with 19.9 cu ft  7040.00 or 36 inches with 24.2 cu ft 7319.00 These are all stainless steel interiors. For that price, I am wondering if I could get the Sub-Zero fridge column. Then I would have to get the freezer column.

I think I would go with the glass door Sub-Zero fridge column. Just imagine where the wood grain is located that it is painted white.

Then the matching freezer column

This would be our choice for the refrigerator /freezer in the kitchen. I would want a wall like this to put them in.

Those center cupboards are like a coffee bar/morning bar

Here is the layout of that kitchen

I like it but I would make a few changes.

Tuesdays at the Manor....Across the Pond we go!

Couldn't wait until Tuesday to share this beautiful house.

Let's take a little trip across the pond to England to view a country manor house that is currently listed for sale. Now in order to give you a great overview of this house, I had to do a little internet research to find the various pictures.

Here she is..(and yes I refer to houses in the feminine form. If men can refer to cars as "she" then I can refer to houses as "she" as well). She is called Edge House and she is located in Kentish Lane, Brookman's Park in Hertfordshire. She is listed for 4,500,000 Pound Sterling which is the rough equivalent of $7,475,850 USD.

Here is another view.

This house is described as:

Spectacular Georgian style detached residence, of just under 10,000 sq ft set in extensive landscaped gardens and grounds of approximately 2 acres with an indoor pool complex and panoramic countryside views. Edge House has been recently reconstructed, with the exception of the facade, to create a sumptuous home which has been completed to the highest standard to enhance to todays modern lifestyle living. This secluded home is set behind an electric gated entrance, a sweeping gravel drive with a central water feature leads you to the grand pillared portico. The entrance door opens onto a splendid reception hall, from which all principal rooms lead and the delightful staircase takes you to an extensive landing where you will find five bedroom suites, over two floors, all with en suite facilities and extensive countryside views. Two prominent features of this home are the magnificent indoor pool complex with a gymnasium and the pavilion/cinema room, which is a grand room for entertaining, which also combines well with the adjacent courtyard. Location Kentish Lane, which runs from Essendon to Brookmans Park is one the areas most sought after locations. Brookmans Park itself is widely regarded as one of the most desirable places to live in Hertfordshire with its village atmosphere and unique homes. The larger town of Potters Bar (junction 24 on the M25) and St Albans are within close proximity, offering an array of shopping and leisure facilities. Direct rail links into London Kings Cross and Moorgate stations are available from both Brookmans Park and Potters Bar. Educational facilities in the area include Stormont, Lochinver, Dame Alice Owen, Haileybury, and Queenswood.
